Care for the individual

At Haileybury Astana, every single child is important to us. We provide additional support where children need it, and carefully analyse their academic and social needs to give them the help they need. We use International testing systems so we are aware of every child’s potential and carefully track them against this to ensure they are performing at the right level.

Our class teachers in the Junior School and Housemasters in the Senior School are responsible for pastoral oversight and will help and guide pupils during their time with us alongside their academic staff.

Haileybury is known worldwide not only for it’s academic excellence but also for the care and Support we give each individual pupil to help them do their best in a supportive and happy environment’

House System

House System

Every pupil at Haileybury Astana is assigned to one of four Houses within the school. Each House is named after famous alumni of Haileybury in the UK: Attlee, Bartle Frere, Edmonstone and Kipling: a former Prime Minister, soldier, diplomat and writer, respectively. The houses are shared with Haileybury Almaty, and with the exception of Attlee House, each House has a counterpart in Haileybury in the UK.

There are full House meetings once a week where members of each House come together with their teachers and their Housemaster. Healthy competition is established between Houses through school sports, arts, and academic competitions. Housemasters and Housemistresses monitor all aspects of a pupil’s career at Haileybury Astana from academic progress to personal development and leadership profiling.

Staff are always ready to give praise where it is due, both in academic and extra-curricular situations. Staff will take care to inform Tutors of the successes and achievements of individual pupils. There are two formal systems to recognise and reward achievement and encourage pupils on the pathway to success:
